Viswanathan Anand beats Topalov to retain World Chess Title

World chess champion Viswanathan Anand has managed to retain his world chess title by defeating Veselin Topalov in just 56 moves in the Final game of the 12 Game tournament which was played in Sofia, Bulgaria.

With both players Anand and Topalov neding only one win, Anand won by a point to retain the title he won in 2008. The point table was like that:

Anand 6.5 points

Veselin Topalov 5.5 points

The Indian grandmaster lost the very 1st game, but draw level in the 2nd game. Viswanathan Anand won the 4th game to open up a one point go in front before the Bulgarian beat him for a 2nd time in the eighth game. Then all the remaining games ended in draws.
